There are several natural dandruff cures here, including some shampoos and hair treatments that you can use to keep your dandruff under control.
But first of all, why do you have dandruff, and where does it come from?
What is Dandruff and the Importance of Diet
Dandruff (Pityriasis capitis) is a non-inflammatory form of seborrheic dermatitis related to the yeast Pityrosporum ovale. It causes itchiness and the build up of dead scale-like skin of the scalp that can lead to baldness. This is because it weakens the
hair and makes it lifeless and lacks luster. The tiny pores on the
scalp are unable to breathe and therefore no longer function properly.
The pores cannot breathe properly when they are clogged with waste
material, as dandruff is.
When the scalp is dry, dandruff is
loose and flaky; but when the scalp is oily this causes the worst sort
of dandruff as the scalp ends up with a dandruff that is thick, waxy and
very difficult to remove. It is this type of dandruff that eventually
causes hair loss.
There are methods to try and reduce this common hair problem, including improving the diet.
As mentioned in the article on hair care tips, dandruff is caused by a lack of Vitamin B in the diet. Once you increase your intake of Vitamin B your will find that your problems with dandruff will disappear. You can do this by taking a supplement of brewer’s yeast tablets, and large daily doses of wheatgerm.
Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, some meat, fish, cheese, eggs, milk, nuts, and grains. Foods containing vitamins of the B complex are vital, particularly pantothenic acid. Essential minerals for healthy hair include iron, iodine, and copper.
Dandruff can also be stress related. In this case, relaxation techniques will be far more effective than any homemade anti-dandruff shampoo.

Nettle Tonic Rinse
Nettle is an excellent
tonic for the scalp and can be found in most fields around the world. I
have quite a lot of nettle on my property. It is a sign that your soil
has a lot of nitrogen in it. Anyway, I digress.
Make a strong
infusion of nettles by boiling the leaves in water until they are soft.
This should take 30 minutes. For each cup of nettle water add 4
tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Massage this into your scalp every
morning and evening until the dandruff disappears.
